Where a REALTOR® fits in

The programs above are run by the agencies that operate them. A REALTOR® is not one of those programs, but there are a few points on this list where one can genuinely help.

Facing foreclosure

If you have equity in your home, selling is sometimes a better outcome than foreclosure. A REALTOR® can tell you what your home would sell for in today's market, so you can weigh that against mediation and the other options above.

Trying to buy

Down payment assistance, first-time buyer loans, and homebuyer education all run through the programs listed here. A REALTOR® helps you use them: which lenders accept which assistance, and what the local market actually looks like.

Getting ready

Path to the Keys is DAR's free step-by-step navigator for Delaware buyers: credit help, savings programs, transfer tax and payment calculators, and plain-language guides.

Where a REALTOR® can't help: rent assistance, utility bills, weatherization, emergency repairs, and property tax credits all go through the agencies listed above. Contact them directly. Don't wait on a call back from anyone else first.
